Last couple days keep seeing boats go out the harbor entrance and stop, which I think means they are catching bait.  Last time I tried in close it was very small anchovies, maybe they have grown up or maybe the mackerel moved in close.  Curious if anyone has any clues...

I was out Sunday and stopped out front with two other boats -- didn't see much bait on the screen, on my sabiki or going into the other two boats.

Cheers,
Brad

It's fun watching the Harbor Cam
The Thursday evening Crow's Nest party is always interesting, and the sunsets over the wharf are sometimes spectacular

I was all packed up and ready to fish early in the AM today, but had an incredible headache when I got to SC, so did not launch. I’m hoping to get out tomorrow, and if I do, I’ll let you know about the bait situation.

I didn't catch any, but what looked like smelt were chasing my baits in Capitola the other day. Funny how they chase anything shiny, even if it is larger than they are, haha.

Looks like 10 powerboats just .5 miles out of the harbor all stopped for bait.  Conditions must be good enough now for a try at tuna, be looking for some reports today
