I really want to try these, but have no experience running the cables so opted to just drill some SS screws into the drum as replacement teeth. 3 was enough to have contact with the chain at all times and its holding up great.

I have not tried those, but I did get some chains for my GT drive that’s made by the same company. The chains are extremely well made—if anything, a slight upgrade from Hobie. I wouldn’t hesitate to order any mirage drive parts from them.

If somebody has a Youtube tutorial it would be great to share here.  I found this video at 20:30 mins but its not detailed on how to change sprockets.  Too many parts involved and easy to miss something.

I maybe missing something but the description doesn't mention it works specifically for kick up fins.

I wonder what might break next if the tooth doesn't.  Is it better to have a sacrificial part or a sturdy one.  I ponder this a lot on Hobie designs.

That's an interesting point, as there clearly are some sacrificial parts on the Hobie Islands. But, I doubt the teeth on the sprocket are intended as such and, personally, I wouldn't hesitate to replace the plastic sprockets with metal.

Forsure the teeth don't break on their own usually, mine were sheard off when the rollers failed and pitted the drum inside. When that slid to a halt my teeth failed.

I have since replaced the roller bearings with PVC pipe as a bushing again. I couldn't replace the roller bearings with fresh cut delrin rod due to all the pitting going on in that track. Pvc and some grease has been pretty bullet proof so far tho luckily.

You might want to try nylon roller bearings. They seem to be indestructible and no lubrication is needed.
