da bean took a bunch of my tackle and gave me a gopher, two olives and three blues.

light south wind, some rain, clean medium NW swell about 3-4 feet.

not great fishing, and I didn't fish too smart, but for some reason it was really fun.

some excitement on launch and land in the sense that the swells were kinda large.

I kept the blues, we had tacos at my house with all the fixings.

had fun fishing briefly with eric b and kayakito, and saying hi to fishhunter, piscean
and my favorite NCKA-er, da Mooch.

today, I would probably have been best served fishing a shrimpfly rig with some
squid and enjoying the schools of blues that are still out there.

riding into the troughs of the swells mean my lures drag and snag. oh well, I have
way too much gear anyways, unless I lose some I'll never be able to buy more!

Best,
John

glad to hear da bean provided for the family

I had a diamond jig that was getting pretty banged up, and half wanted to loose it.  So of course it survived for dozens of trips.  As soon as I loose it and put on a nice shiny megabait, I loose it on the first drop.  Lost a bunch that day.  Karma is a bitch!

Like you said, it gives you a chance to go shopping.  So is this the way many women feel about shoes :smt002

Hi John!  :smt006  Was Nice to meet you. I'm glad we all got out safe, I was scared for the landing part, but I was lucky by picking a nice window and getting out was easy. Today was not
that good like last weekend, I only got three blues and a cabeza grande, just enough for a soup :smt002 nothing special! The good part for me was dealing with the launching and landing, that was something different !  :smt002

Mooch,FishHunter,Eric B,Gordo, Was nice to see you guys.
I apologize for not staying to help with the beach clean up,
I had some to do and had to go. Hopefully the weather gets nicer
before October 1st for Good Bye BH fishing Day.

Now I need some meditation, I gotta find the way
to catch a Halibut next time

Launch and return were both a bit of a challenge for me, but it wasn't too bad.  Lost a hooded sweatshirt on my landing, (thanks again Adam and Sean for the help).

John, that was truly a textbook perfect beach landing!  Gave me plenty to aspire to.

Fishing was tough.  I lost two or three rigs, and caught only one barely legal Cab and three or four smallish rockfish of various types, (all released).  It was raining off and on, and fishing in close I was getting some gusty wind, larger swellls,  and weird mixed swells on occasion that made being out there somewhat less that comfortable.  It was just rougher than I'm used to at this point.  Lotta hull slap, etc.

There was't too much trash around, but we got what we could find.

It was fun hanging out afterwards and breaking bread with those who weren't scared of a little rain...  The weather actually was quite nice later in the day.

I thought I'd clicked on "Show unwritten posts" again!
I've ordered jigs from those folks twice before, they are a good deal, and arrive quickly. I got the 5 oz ones with single hook, unattached, so I could attach it to the top or bottom, with or without a squid skirt. I wonder if anyone has tried the one with the tubing or the bent one around here.
Check the shipping cost and you can save a little more - I think I ordered more for the same shipping cost.

Good to see the crew yesterday at the bean.

My buddy and I ventured out this AM (Sun) and tried out a borrowed WS Pamlico 145.  It turns out that when you dump 400lbs worth of dudes into an open top recreational double that has 400lb capacity - their ain't much float left.

Certainly not enough to get past the wash.  When we both got in - I noticed only 3" lip showing above the water -- and then tipped over.

We gave up after four tries.  It would have been big entertainment value for the crowd yesterday.

Note - a kayak filled with water is freakin HEAVY!

I'm going to quite messing around a get a real boat.

Good to formally meet you John, Ramon and Gordo(was expecting a fat mexican?)
I sissy'd out when seeing the mouth get swept and felt like a puss when the calm window showed and the three fearless yakers that did, go came back!

here are some pics of the shorebreak during O.K. WINDOW & NON-WINDOW TIME.
Ty,Ramon and Eric on the shore, then Ramon/kayakito getting out while Eric B. waited, then charged it.

Had a great time just hanging out on the side lines with Adam, Ty and Sean. Hat's off to Sean and Adam for doing the beach clean up (even the Park Ranger was pleasantly surprised). I did some shore fishing for about 5 seconds and called it a day....decided to sit on the lawn chair, keep tabs with Eric (as he was out fishing) and watching the big rollers pound the shore line.

Glad to see everyone made it to shore safe and sound. We watched J expertly timed his way in right next to the rocks.

.....and the worst for last was this "sweater snatcher" Eric B. ran into while attempting his FIRST-CENTER of the BEACH LANDING as we watched in horror wondering why he didn't exit in the north section?

...sorry for the close-up Eric, I got nutin better to do right now!

i'm trying to hit it midweek with my fellow EastBaySlayers, to make up for not getting out there sat.   conditions will dictate!
