Hey Scotty,

I can’t make it tomorrow but if you’re back out there on Sunday I’d see you there.

Albion, Stay in the cove, lings will be there and safe paddling. Gotta love the opener. Fish all move in shallow. Cabs should be there too!

I’m too new to know if you’re just kidding here. Looking to hit up somewhere on Sunday and fish some cliffs if kayaking isn’t safe. Any tips? I’m down to drive to Albion if it really is protected. Passed it a bunch but never stopped.

Arrived at TB at 5:50 to a full lower lot.

2 smelt, 2 shiner perch, and 1 shark. Beautiful morning with very little wind. The ell grass was driving me nuts after 10:30 so I called it quits at 11:00. Lots of bait but only managed the 4. Lost the sabiki to something that broke it off fast, probably a ray. Spent most of the time with the fleet around the yellow weather station.

Next time out will be Shelter Cove.

I’m with ya Mark
Had about the same bait as you did and a 3-4 inch perch that 3$J likes.
But  not today… just a good boat ride!
Wind picked up mid day but didn’t last  but yes the am was nice!

Matthew and I launched at van damme at 7am and went as far south as we were comfortable with. Found an assortment of good sized black and blues, a couple chinas, and a ton of gopher rockfish. Matthew landed a nice ~22inch vermillion. Kept 16 rockfish in total. Decided to head in at 1030am as the wind was picking up. The forecast was pretty accurate at around 7ft at 6s coming from the nw, wind picking up in the late morning. Good start to the season and looking forward to getting further out next trip.

Sounds like that was the move. We launched at Ocean Cove. It was pretty bumpy so we stayed close. Kept 8 fish, an olive, couple nicer blues, and gophers, released a ling that was just short for about an hour and a half of fishing. One kayaker out of OC filled up with water and abandoned his kayak  It felt great being back on the big Pacific blue and I’m looking forward to a rockfish dinner tonight.
