I have some stains on my kayak that I want to clean, and was trying acetone and paint brush thinner to remove them, but it didn’t help. Was wondering if folks have any recommendations.

The stains by the mirage drive are probably from my diving boots. I don’t think the other stains are from fish.

Thanks

If the stains are from your boots you should change non marking soles. I had a pair of water shoes that left black streaks in the drive area. I stopped using them and problem sloved.
For cleaning stains I use a sponge scrubber for washing dishes with simple green.  For tough stains add some bleach.

Try rubbing the stained area with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  It may work.

Did you try powerwashing? That's gotten out every stain but one that I've ever had on my kayak.

I think you need more White Sea bass blood that will buff it out

hum, i guess I'll try power washing.  Cause every time I caught squid it left spots all over my cockpit and drysuit.  I've tried dish soap and scrubbing but didn't come out.  I don't know why it bothers me but I would like them gone.  :smt013

🦑 🖋️ might be tough, as my in failure with power washing was spray graphite lubricant, which looks a lot like squid ink…

I have an about 1800 psi power washer from Home Depot.   Older than the Ryobi’s.   I find it is really handy.   I think for most things better than the really powerful ones.   Neighbor has Honda powered commercial size one.   Great for the pavers, but to powerful for bugs on the camper and cleaning the Trex deck.

powerwash.  first time tried it on yak saturday.  nvr thought itd be that clean.  there was some major rust stains that didnt fully come out so even powerwash has limitations.  but ull otherwise b really pleased n impressed

If that doesn't work, search YouTube for "restoring a kayak" and find the one where the guy is cleaning an old, yellow Jackson kayak with an oversized buffing pad on an electric drill.  He got out a heck of a lot of discoloration on that hull without using anything except that buffing pad.

I haven't tried it yet.
Sometimes, when the water is quiet, you can hear the fish laughing at you.

Check out this video of using a blow torch to restore old faded plastic.  It makes me wonder, but no way i'm trying it  :smt044
