Hi Nor Cal folks -

I am new to kayak fishing.  Got a 11 ft Vibe set up with the Bixby.  I used to fish out of Timber Cove in the dark ages, commercial salmon fishing out of Bodega Bay in 1979 & later went to Cal Maritime and got my engineering degree and on to become chief engineer on oceanographic research vessels out of Moss Landing for Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute up until 1997. I am looking for someone to go out Kayak fishing with me in July.  Been watching YT vids and such getting educated as best I can. I have been shore fishing up north of Bodega and caught some Perch, but the experience has mostly motivated me to go out fishing on the Kayak ASAP.  Thanks for this group here - I really appreciate it. Denny from Sebastopol

I am not familiar with 11 ft Vibe kayak, but it might be on the short side to take out in the open ocean.  It will be your call.

Hey there Denny, you have a very interesting background. Look forward to conversation about marine biological science. I will have some time off from June 16 to July 16. The only problem is I am waiting for a part for my 1978 VW van as that is my only car to transport my kayak. I think by July I should have if fixed. I am looking to do some free diving up north, maybe Fort Ross or Timber cove. If you are interested let me know, keep in contact, Ron.

Hi Ron -

Thank you. I know a little about marine biological science (the deep sea stuff anyway), but a lot more about building and running the ships so those who do know can do their work.  What is surprising to me now is how little I know about coastal access for someone with a kayak given I have lived almost my entire life in this area. A bit humbling . . .

There is a great site, www.bask.org , open up the trip planner and they list all the sites north of the bay, the bay and south of the bay. I will have time off 6/16 to 7/16 so will be trying to get some time on the kayak, I'll keep in contact, enjoy, Ron.

Hi Nor Cal folks -

Got a 11 ft Vibe set up with the Bixby.

What type of Vibe Kayak are you rocking? I use a Vibe shearwater 125. Super stable, platform pretty much untippable. You would fall of prior to flipping it.

Either way look forward to seeing you out on the water! Tight Lines.
