I use both models of shark shield, one for scuba and one for free diving/kayak (scupper hole) and like it. I have a friend who had a friend who was bitten by a shark off channel islands last year, she now only dives with a shark shield. From what I have read and video's watched it seems to work, the science is correct and while it is expensive, the great white population is growing and the young sharks are now branching out to new areas in nor cal. Better safe than shark bite.

I remember mentions about differences between some of the Freedom models with regards to batteries.  Any idea where this one falls?  Would this be compatible with the external battery mod outlined in another thread?

As I recall, there are currently 2 versions available, with the better one advertising 1000 charge cycles and the lesser on only 300. According to the info at that link, it should be the better one. Searching online, I do see a few places offering the one with 300 charge cycles, so maybe my memory is even correct...

Same.  I forgot I planned to buy it... the other day my wife looks at the budget and asks, "I thought you were going to buy a sharkshield... what happened?"  Doh!
