Hi All,

I finally pulled the trigger on a kayak.  I have so much to learn but like the challenge.  I did a guided tour prior to covid and loved it and I have been itching to get into it.

I am a little nervous as I don't know people in the kayak fishing community and I have gone out twice from the Santa Cruz Harbor by myself, but I don't want to venture past the mile buoy, especially all alone.

Is there a sober group of kayakers or community of kayakers who are in recovery?  Thanks again and I look forward to meeting some people out on the water.

Rick

Welcome to the madness!

Regarding sober crew... I don't see much drinking on the water from the NCKA folks I've been out with.  I know there are OGs here who are sober and I've met plenty of other sober folks in the lot.  We're a pretty inclusive and respectful bunch for sure.

Welcome to the club. I just joined, so far everyone I have met is cool. I am in the north bay but do plan to go out to Monterey this summer, just look for a post and answer. If you're ever near San Rafael, let me know, Ron.
