I’ve always had the Bixpy on my wishlist. Not sold yet on the idea of extra gear on the kayak and less exercise. But sure was pleased to stumble upon their new battery. It’s 768 Watt/Hour at 25lb and $900 compared to their original 378 Watt/Hour at 7lb and $650.

If anyone gets this battery then I’d love to hear how it works

Looks pretty well designed.  I think I'm also not quite ready to add more gear to my kayak yet, but I like the technology.  I checked craigslist as well and looks like someone is selling a J2 outboard kit for 900 or best offer, so probably could get them down lower for anyone interested https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bpo/d/san-jose-bixpy-electric-motor-brand-new/7610923859.html

Interesting statistics:

My FF Nocqua battery is 10Ah, 12v, so provides 0.12kWh at 1.4lb.
Comparing kWh per pound ratio :
Nocqua : 0.12/1.4= 0.085
Bixpy 378 : 0.378/ 7= 0.054
Bixpy 768 : 0.768/ 25 = 0.03

This means i get more electricity per pound than Bixpy batteries.
I wonder if someone tried powering a Bixpy with other batteries…
Apparently yes! Check this one:

The newer K1 model will be available soon.  I would wait for it

More than 3x the weight to double the W/H? I don't understand the math...

Yeah. I don’t either. The company says it would last 24 hours on trolling speed. Like 1mph?

I was contemplating on getting this battery. The only thing is that I'd like to keep this in the hull but can't because of the kill switch.

Somebody needs to invent a large battery that fits in a flexible duffle bag so that it can be maneuvered into a small hatch like, say, a Hobie round hatch. Of course, appropriate connectors would be needed too...

Why not just buy a 12v 100ah lipo battery for like $300 and add some adapters to plug into the Bixpy?

Spec sheet shows it's 24v, so would need a 24v batter, or two 12v.

Same question…why not get a 24v 100ah lipo from Amazon for $300? Maybe the adapters/plugs are hard to find?

The video I posted earlier in the thread shows exactly that. They used a 24v killer marine grade Dakota battery ($1000 or more) that has 3x capacity. But you still need the integrated circuit from the original battery for the remote and the kill switch.

The battery is big. Won’t fit in a hull. I’ve been thinking like NWM - an in-hull battery. Problem is the battery may overheat.

Overheating would not be an issue for a lithium iron phosphate battery--see, for example, the section on "safety advantages of lithium iron phosphate" here:

You want the battery to be very reachable and serviceable in case of on.water issues.
