Dude…I just read the comments on this latest video, and I’m shocked by all the self-fellating replies. And complete misunderstanding of the regs. It just reinforces my disdain for the braggadocious-poser nature of the CA youtube fishing community. They also bagging on Christian even though I don’t see a single comment from him on the latest yt video.

He also failed to mention his video from 4 days earlier titled "Triple Limit of Halibut" where he caught 6 fish over his limit....

i have a feeling the CDFW agent would have felt differently had they known the true story instead of the version he told..

I skimmed through that video and, to his credit, he released multiple keepers and ended the day with his legal limit but I guess "TRiplE HALIBUT LiMItS!!!"  is a much more palatable YouTube title these days.

Internet points are one hell of a drug.

they're pissed i posted it on Fresh and Salty lol. the irony is the admins contacted me and thanked me for posting; neither of them are even in the group anymore but I am, so i assume admins removed them both lol

thanks to the youtube community, i am both a Top 3 Sport Burner and not a real fisherman  :smt044

Sounds like the halibut bite is heating up! Where was he fishing anyways?

Looked like he was ball bouncing a choked anchovie or maybe green label herring somewhere in the east SF bay.

Oyster point. He's been going there in every video I've seen.

Posting fishing videos online and receiving revenue for doing so is a fishing video production business.

These businesses need to be held to a high standard and not knowing fishing regulations is just not acceptable.    The whole "I didn't know" excuse doesn't cut it.

It's so disappointing how common the rule breaking is on these fishing videos.

I wish the DFG would crack down on these blatant rule breakers but it appears they don't.   This is not the time for DFG to be giving warnings, this is where they should be taking action.  Thousands of people watch these videos for instructional purposes and will follow these illegal practices.

This has been going on for years and nothing seems to come from it.  I stopped watching these local fishing videos a while ago and at the time there were so many poachers it made my head spin...and I'm sure most videos are still up and creating revenue.

You should be ashamed of yourself.  Sounds like you need a YouTube page.   :smt044

His echo chamber of fans categorizing anyone holding him accountable as "haters" feeds it.  In his mind, he's now a victim and he's doing "the good work" of pushing back on the haters.  He'll be self-labeling as a martyr soon enough.

This has been my point for a very long time, yet most people here defended them and basically implied I'm a hater.  It is wild, because back even 10 years ago, if I did stupid stuff like this, I'd be called out for being an idiot, not praised for being a victim for not knowing the law.  Thanks to youtube, they have a way to voice this craziness being a victim and play that card, and the internet world shows sympathy for these idiots.

I didn't mean to imply it.  You are definitely a hater.  Drinking that Haterade.

This is a symptom of a bigger cultural problem in this country and our society.  I have two high school seniors in my house, going off to college and filling out applications and seeking scholarships.  Every single school and scholarship that requires an essay gives at least an option, if not a requirement, that the student applicant describe some injustice that they personally experienced, and how they overcame that injustice.  It's a sort of Oppression Olympics, and the winners get to go off to institutions of higher earning where they can hone their craft as the true victims, while fine tuning their oppression detection senses.

It's mad, all mad.  Worst part is we asked for this.

This assumes that there's really such a thing as bad press. A quick look around the globe these days really makes me wonder  .
