Would this be good for fishing in the near shore ocean or is there a minimum size for ocean kayaking?

It's short, but think it's rated to like 300 pounds and sure would float well near shore.  Matches my X-Factor too  :smt005

The Mini-X is a fun little kayak. I have two of them.
I was thinking about taking one to Albion this summer.

Only unless you plan on rigging it with an outboard and trolling with 5 lb weights. With a 7-10ft swell at 5 secs. These conditions are great for Halibut bouncing.

Float well near shore?  Is water denser nearer to shore?

Great for the river too.  Especially upstream where the water backs up and gets more dense.

well technically ..Water density changes with temps and  salinity. its measured as mass (g) per unit of volume (cm³). Water is densest at 39*F and is least dense at 32*F ( why ice floats ) so density changes with temperature and salinity......
