Some interesting #'s posted on Coastside last night 28/41 - I'd be willing to bet a shot straight out from either LindaMar or HMB would cross paths with a nice school or two. To add to the intrigue there are some reports of different catches out there - horse mackerel and bonita.

Also some fish caught straight out and a bit south of ML but that seems sketchier.

It'd be interesting to know where most of the commercial boats will be. I'm grounded til next week which is enough to make a person edgy - should've had alot of good fish by this time of year.

good luck I envy anyone who can get out this week-end

Also Frank Mocerino posted this for Moss: "47/51 area..190-210' of water..80' OTW"

I think that would be about 4 miles wsw of Moss - looking very good and eatin a hole in my gut as I'm looking at tues or wed at the earliest

On Thurs, my friend started off Mulligan but ran to the westside of the hole for 6 fish to 18lbs.  My came by my house this am and we chatted more fishing.  He was saying that the fishing is better off SC right now.  He also mentioned that the insanely wide open bite off HMB has/is tapering off.
BTW, I spoke to Chuck who had fished from a BOAT on Friday for 6 fish limits off SC as well.

If you guys head out this weekend, expect it to be more crowded than usual.  Good bite, holiday weekend and the annual MB Trout and Salmon Derby.
One more thing, commercial salmon will re open on Monday, July 4th.  That will may fishing a little tougher offshore.  Joel, don't worry about Pacifica to Pedro, as its generally too shallow for the commie guys to work (unless its wide open).

I was under the impression that the commercial guys had some type of limit that they could fish. I thought it was like 2 or 3 miles out from shore.

Paul,
No idea where the commercials will focus.  Doesn't sound like there is any super hot bites, so they'll probably just pick away with the rest of the trollers (unless its too crowded).

I believe it was every 15 feet is a "stop" on the cable (where they can attach a leader), so usually they won't fish the shallow water.   They have lots of cable and hydraulic gurdies, so they can go DEEP.

Smaller/mid size boats fish 4 lines (2 trailing floaters and 2 down off the outriggers).  Big boats will fish 6 lines ( 4 floaters and 2 down off the outriggers).

Balsilkies,
I've never heard of any depth restrictions or min/max distances from shore, but times may have changed.

Thanks

I was trying to figure where the schools are going to get hammered the fastest.

I think the offshore restrictions for commercials is for rockfish, they can't work over the inshore reefs. There's probably a distance restriction there.

It's looking like Soquel Hole might be a good bet and also a short drive.

good luck
