I went for a walk yesterday. It was sunny, cold, and windy, wind blowing east, and visibility exceptional.
You could see both Farallon Islands. And I could spot at least 5 boats that seem like fishing (or crabbing?) off the coast.
Now just waiting to get back to the salt

Great Views up there. Also a great mountain biking trail from Sweeney ridge all the way down to Rockaway Beach about 4 miles, hella fun.

I think Sweeney Ridge is where Portola’s crew first saw the SF Bay during their initial exploration of alta california.

I’m impressed by your knowledge! The only reason I know what you’re talking about is that my son goes to Portola Elementary, and there’s a sign or something about the Portola expedition. The expedition went looking for Monterey Bay, coming from Mexico, and around April if I’m not mistaken (salmon season, upwelling, fog) they walked past the bay and missed it due to fog. They kept going until they got to Sweeny Ridge, where they saw the bay and realized they went too far.

Apparently, that same expedition thought the SF Bay was a lake too.

We drove up to Drakes Beach yesterday to watch the Elephant Seals.   Could not believe on clear and calm the ocean was.  Looked like you could kayak to the Farralons they looked so close.
