Thanks for sharing your experience, and glad you didn't get a fine from the tax man.  Congrats on the nice butt too!

Thanks all, figured this group would appreciate the share. I'm going backwards in that 60 page thread on GWS. Holy Sh*t!  :smt009

Coastside had a bunch of situations one year mostly GWs and one incident where guys fishing tuna had four fish coming to the back of the boat and an orca came up and snatched all four

A few years ago one of the Bolinas commies was bent over to net a salmon and a big GW breached on it

A coworker who has a marine biology degree said the GWs spend a lot of energy on a breach so don’t usually do it for small prey

She thought it probably meant their normal food sources must be low

After I saw the landlord this weekend, I got my line up and stayed completely still for a stretch as pedaling seemed like a bad idea that would draw attention to myself. Thinking about a trip to the bay soon!!

Curious about other peoples GWS encounters

Has anyone here ever have an encounter with a GWS that has breached out of the water (in CA)? or attacked their catch while reeling in from Kayak?

I saw a GWS a while back (and got a few seconds of it on video). Although it didn’t breach, or even get a bite, I’m convinced that one was after a halibut that I’d hooked. Part of the reason I think that is because the halibut fought like no halibut I’ve ever caught—much more like a salmon, making long horizontal runs… like it was trying to get away from Mr Jaws.
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I wonder what impact the recent red tides had on the local GWS population.
