nolanduke, sorry 2 hear bro.  so awful for u, ur kids, n the victim.  My work HQ r in the city so eventually Ill regularly b up again.  But I don't think SF is unusual in the frequency or type of adverse driver interactions.

literally EVERYONE on phones now = vehicular negligence pandemic!  I've been run over 3x by distracted drivers making unlawful left turns, failing to yield to me as an oncoming vehicle, fortunately not dead.  The last impact was w a delivery driver 4 Postmates!

B safe out there and get some professional counseling sooner than later to help if needed.  stuff like that tends to stick in a kids head

My kids witnessed the aftermath of a suicide by pedestrian v. big rig when they were young.  it didn't seem to affect them much, even though they saw what was clearly a shoe with a foot and the lower part of a severed leg still attached to it.  Just talk to them, and if they are having any questions, be honest.  If they start obsessing or having nightmares it's time to call in the professionals.

And SF is terrible with distracted drivers, urban decay, homelessness, etc.  Just like most everywhere else on the west coast.  Unfortunately it isn't a special case, that's the norm these days.

That is not good for your children to see that. In my travels between the Bay Area and Sonora, I have seen three fatal accidents between Manteca and Oakdale; two for trying to pass in the late afternoon heading west with the sun in their eyes so they couldn't see on coming traffic. The other was eastbound and the driver lost control and did a few flips off the road into a field.

It is too bad the perp didn't stop.
