FWIW, I have been stopped by the Coast Guard twice (Boarding Report?) while on my Revo with an electric trolling motor. All they've ever said was "oh that's cool...". I did not register this Revo and do not plan on doing so. Most of the time it is human powered.
On my AI with a gas motor, I wouldn't think of getting in the water without a registration.

Fingers crossed that enforcement and fines aren’t stepped up now that our State is short on funds.  Time will tell.

That's an excellent good point. Definitely something to consider going forward...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Just installed my new Bixpy J-2 on my outback. After reading through this thread, I’m going to take the risk and not register at this point in time. I’ll get around to it - maybe,….but after 3 trips, only person who said anything was an over zealous park attendant at Pardee (those gate folks are something else up there sometimes). I’ll plead dum,…which isnt too far off the mark.

Also,…thank you search function.

I just bought the bixby j-2 for my outback. It hasn’t arrived yet but I am not planning on getting it registered until I have some paperwork handed to me telling me to do so. I think as long as you don’t get checked by a field training officer or a newbie you won’t get ticketed. Most of the officials on the water are out there for safety reasons and not helping fix the states deficit. Being kind and respectful to them goes a long way!
