At first blush, I'd have to agree with the comments here.  It seems like a narrower mission window than an Outback.  I'd think that the Lynx wouldn't work well on the salt except in the most lake-like flat conditions.  Nevertheless, there is a demand for a lighter, even SUP like product.  It replaces the hole left from the (I think discontinued?) Hobie Sport.  I'm probably the only Hobie Sport fan here!  :smt005

looks like a fun little hybrid.
could be nice for some really focused fishing missions, especially on small ponds or flat lakes, one rod, a handful of tackle - or maybe for going after those bonefish? or is it whitefish that they fly fish for on the flats in Florida?

Definitely not sea worthy, but looks like a nice bass fishing platform, but the price is a bit killer.  Would rather get an outback for a little more.

+1

or buy a different quality brand kayak for half the price and get it fully rigged with the money saved by not buying a Hobie.

Im stoked and the Lynx has alot of pros. This looks like a great option for fresh water. I do alot of kayak camping with two 30lb dogs and the standard hobie platform is less than ideal for one dog transport, two is very difficult. The flat lynx deck looks good for two dogs and gear transport. With a couple of accessories the lynx will be a good enough fishing platform, but a downrigger will be difficult. The lynx will be slow but stable with the 11' length and 36" width. 46 pounds is awesome. The stackable design is a great feature. Looks like it can be used as a SUP. Price is high, but it includes the 180 with kickup fins, all all new hobie prices are high.

I was going to put a deposit down for a new compass for my wife, but now I am going Lynx. Just have to find one.

This is what I was dreaming of. Fishing off a Hobie i11s for over a year in all conditions made me know what I really wanted in the future. Well the future is here and the Lynx checks all the boxes the i11s was lacking in. Transducer ready, light weight and bullet proof hull, and accessory mounting options. They really nailed all of the details in making the most light weight fishing platform with the greatest potential for success and fun.

I'm sorry but all of the "not sea worthy" "and slow" comments are ignorance IMO. The i11s was very stable in messy big swell conditions and I'm betting the Lynx will do just fine. The i11s speed was good also and I expect the same from the Lynx. The only deal breaker that made me sell the i11s and go back to a Revo was the inflatable hull occasionally getting micro leaks by rock fish spines. With the Lynx that problem is gone. And they're making it in Dune color...  :smt007

Jim, I confess to being ignorant. Truth is, I don't think I've been on a Hobie other than the AI and TI. I guess with such a secretive ad I was hoping for something more, like a lightweight new design of all their boats.

We can send rovers to Mars. Can't we make lightweight Hobies?!

Its not all bad.  45 lb hull weight is great.  I hope they start making more lighter weight hobies.  Everything else in their lineup are porkers.

I agree. When Hobie gets a sub-50 pound AI, I'll be a buyer...

MooMoo asked for a 13’ passport that was 30” wide. Maybe they are bowing to His Mooness??

I believe it is “His Royal Mooness”
