I read the point system for the various species.

Do you only receive points for the lagest species on each outing?

Who do you post your results to to receive credit?

Thanks for your help and input.  Bulldog(Al)

Bulldog,

Thanks for your interest in AOTY.  First thing you need to do is pay your entry fee (if you haven't done so already, but it's kind of a bit late in the season).

Anyway, the AOTY stuff is all on the AOTY site...  http://aoty.ncka.org/user  there's also a link in the navigation banner at the top of the page right between "WIKI" and "HELP".

Once on this site, read the rules.. register for an AOTY account... log in.. and upload your best fish.  Note that there might be a slight delay between registering and receiving points as Bill has to validate your registry with the PayPal reciepts for entry.  If this doesn't happen in a day or two give him a PM.

Let me know if you have any questions with the AOTY site.

Thanks for the reply! :smt006

So is it credit for the top three positions in each species?

Of course I am considering registering for next year. I know i'm good, but not that good to win this year. :smt044

You get points for your top single fish in each species.  According to the rules, there are awards for the top 3 fish in each species and for the top three anglers with the highest total points.

For example, if you catch a 15 inch smallmouth, and that's the biggest smallmouth you catch all year you would get 10 pts/in * 15 in = 150 pts for that fish.  If you also had a 14 inch smallmouth you wounldn't get any points towards your total from that fish.  You'd then add all your biggest fish for each species to make a total.

Don't worry about the math, just keep catching them and uploading them, the web server does all the calculations and rankings for you.

Watch out, Pat, it's addicting!  :smt004

I've found it to be much more influential on my fishing desires than I had anticipated would have been possible, and it's all about fun and networking.

I'll be stoked to see you, Bulldog, and you, Sin Coast, next year on the AOTY board - I'll do it again.   :smt001
