Thats a pretty large reel for kayak fishing (size and weight). It's more of a ocean salmon trolling size reel w/mono, or albacore. If you put spectra on it would hold like 1200 yds. I'm sure it will work fine, if the price is attractive enough. :smt002

I have one and it is pretty big for kayak fishing. I actually caught the sturgeon in my avatar with mine. I have like 500 yards of 20lb test mono on it and the spool isn't even full!

For a big reel it actually does cast pretty good. I now use it on my 8' Seeker for sharays from shore. Not much fun catching sharks on it, but I'm sure it'll be a blast when I finally catch a monster ray on that set-up.

It definitely looks and feels pretty much indestructible, too.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
