Optio W30 vs GoPro 7

I am not a technical person at all....

Was considering getting the GoPro Hero 7 for about $300, but I recently dug out my old Optio W30 which appears to be working just fine.

Is there any real reason to upgrade to the  GoPro, if I don’t need any extra features?

Yeah the optio is waterproof and takes short videos.

The W30 used to be the NCKA gold standard camera....  back in like 2007.

The stabilization on theGo Pro makes it completely worth it. It also has higher quality video and picture. Also can use it through your phone or voice function. My favorite part is wireless uploads. Just way more functionality with the go pro

Depends if you’re going to snap photos or shoot video...the old Optio will produce better photo images because the GoPro has a limited field of range. Also, I know how frugal you are... So, unless you have $300 burning a hole in your pocket...just stick with the Optio AND buy a knockoff GoPro for like $50.
I have a wireless remote for my Optio. Mounted on a tripod and attached to the bow of my kayak, its kinda like a poor man’s gopro. Although I stopped filming myself while fishing because it felt douchey.

Hahaha, that was not what I meant! I enjoy watching OTHER people fishing; I just don’t like watching myself fishing. And I don’t have time to edit & share videos. So it may be a tinge of jealousy too...

Just to follow up, I spent $20 on an 64mb card and new battery, bam, set!
