I have a variety of rods which I use for different purposes.  I broke about 7 inches off the tip of a rod while loading it in a vehicle, and installed a new tip guide at the busted end of the rod.  I found that I like the action of the somewhat shorter and stiffer rod, and have ended up using the repaired rod quite a bit.
