Try using your knees to pull it apart...
Put the rod behind you legs.  Squat slightly and grab each half of the rod with the ferrule in the center at knee level.  Slide arms in until they touch your legs at knee.  Hold tight and spread your knees apart.  This should help separate it.

Flyrods tend to do this a lot and using the behind the knees technique never works for me.

Run hot - not scalding hot - tap water over the female ferrule doing your best to keep the hot water off the male side.  The female ferrule will expand enough for you to pop the rod apart.

Here's hoping you have a long enough countertop.

pinpoint spray some corrosion X or penentrant oil first.  Into the ferrule seam.  Keep spray minimized so rod not slippery.

OK, may sound crazy, but this is mostly waterbased but has some sort of silicone lubricant in it. I've had it do some amazing stuff when penetrating oil didn't work.  BUT I have no idea if it would hurt the rod.  It works especially well on squeaks and cause it's thin and water based it doesn't leave a mark or residue.  Well I guess it does leave some residue, like a superthin invisible coat of silicone.

Well i tried everything mention here except Tinkers suggestion with the hot water. I even try putting layers of tape near the edge of the top ferrule and wedging it in a V grove to see if i could pull it appart but that didn't work either! Going to try Tinkers suggestion with hot water then maybe my heat gun! if all fails i will use the Hacksaw like Mojo Jojo said and make my custome made 10' perch rod :smt003!

How about that grippy stuff for the bottom of rugs or the lid opener discs of rubber for grip...
