Maybe it's just me, but this summer is getting off to an awfully slow start...no salmon yet (close to shore that is), slow rockfish, and the weather sucks! Just a rant...hopefully things will pick up soon.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I hear that. I've usually logged at least 10 trips by now. This year I'm at half that :smt012. There are other factors, but the weather has really been putting me off. Seems like all the FAC days are during the week, and the wind and swell show up on Friday. :smt013
Since the freezer is fishless after tonight, I'll try north of Santa Cruz this weekend and see if the conditions will allow me to fish...

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Have been out on my kayak almost every weekend since the May 1st Opener of RF season and the slowest day I've had was 12-15 fish (blues don't count).  :smt002

Might be time to find a new fishin hole! LOL!  :smt044
Of course, I'm just messin with ya'll. Fishing has been slow so far (have only had a couple 30+ fish days). The rockfishing should pick up in the next month.

Now get back to chaning out those megabait trebles!

I think we will see changes once the weather calms down...right now, It seems like everyone is glued to the weather forecast rather than the fishing reports (rightfully so)...we know there are fish out there but just can't get to 'em until mother nature gives us a window of opportunity :smt002

My advice?  fish the calmer waters inside the bay, Santa Cruz Kghthouse area/ Mile reef area WEst Cliff area......MBK, Cannery Row,; Stillwater Cove.

Gets you out there amd fishing.

I did pretty good all Spring by staying close to the kelp, lots of 1/2 limit days, but, that's dinner at least!!

WEather has certainly been a negative factor for this Spring.  Cold water temps and lots of wind, and a few BIG wells.  I figure we are working like a month late for the season.

Change is happening right now, though.  SC had temps up to 61 this week, and North Coast Reefs are picking up for RF.

I'm getting a bit impatient for close-in salmon myself, though......LOL

I've got to agree with Sin Coast. I'd not even made it out for rockfish by this time last year. My worst day fishing so far this year was at the HMB derby. Even then the underlings kept me entertained at least.

Elk is coming, so is an Alaska trip. This year is going to be gooood.
