Decided to stick with 40 gallon tank.  The plumber actually gave me his honest opinion and talked me out of the tankless as he didn't think it was necessary for a house with just 2 people.  Definitely something I will consider for the future though.

Agreed. I crunched the numbers for ROI on my home and asked a plumber I knew who said the same thing. Payback from initial cost seems to coincide with end of expected life span. Convenience-wise, tho, they do deliver endless hot water which is a good feature with a houseful.

I have installed them in commercial restrooms at a site where we have 50 employees and 40-80 conference attendees. For that, it's great!

We live full time in a 40 ft 5th wheel and I tell ya on demand hot water is the only way to go in my opinion. I remember back in our homeowner days running out if two of the kiddos got in the shower before me. Now that there all grown up if we went back to stick and foundation we could probably live in a tanked heater. But for any Rv’er go tankless.

We had an electric water heater which was ridiculous, as in, expensive to operate and it took forever to heat up. The switch to a gas (propane) water heater was going to be fairly pricey anyway, so the additional cost of going tankless was not so bad. Another factor is that our tankless unit lives outside, which frees up a fair bit of space inside.

From what I've read, tankless water heaters have improved a lot in recent years, both in terms of efficiency and reliability. Definitely worth considering, IMHO.

Plus with a tankless usually gotta upsize ur gas lines which can get pricey. I was super busy this past week I would of helped ya out bro
