I am thinking about floating the Salinas River out the mouth and around to the Sand Plant. Has anyone done this? Any good launch spots? Am I crazy?? Thanks
I only fish on days that end with Y

If its not sanded in like it has been most this year it would be fun to try. Most likely you will have to portage in-between the river and the ocean. Now that I think about it isn't the sand plant miles and miles from the mouth of the Salinas river ?

Its a bit of a trek, but I think its a better shot than paddling from monterey. I haven't found a viable beach launch near there. Its all really steep right now.

That would be quite an adventure. It’s still flowing into the ocean but I wouldn’t launch right there because the current & surf would be dangerous. Plus a lot of work just to get to the launch. You’d be better off just launching from the beach in Marina or dunes colony (on a very calm day).
