Details for OTW Service for Chef, Sunday 5-27 EDITED PLS READ

Jade Pirate is going home to Big Sur on Sunday, May 27th.

We plan to meet at the Mill Creek Picnic Area at 10:30 am. Mill Creek is the gateway to one of Stephen's favorite Big Sur spots, the Pacific Valley reef complex.

We will spread Chef's ashes offshore, share a laugh and maybe shed a few tears. If we have lost a friend, Big Sur has gained an eternal protective spirit.

To find Mill Creek, drive about 1 mile south of Limekiln State Park. The access road is just past the Kirk Creek campground. This link may be helpful: http://www.parksman.com/mill.html

After we paddle out, please stick around for a potluck shore lunch. Consider bringing folding tables and chairs.

If you plan on joining us, please post up. If you'd like to bring something for the shore lunch, let us know what you're cooking.

This event is happening rain or shine, swell or calm. Rally up at the picnic spot - if we have to adjust the program, we'll do it then.

Might want to make it a bit later so folks can fish the AM too.  I believe it's a longish paddle to 'the kitchen'.

Are there still campsites open down there?  I might go for the whole weekend if the weather is nice.

I wouldn't do it any later due to the risk of the wind coming up in the late morning.

Kirk Creek and Plaskett are first come first service camping.  Get there early, it is Memorial Day weekend!

Anyone want to car pool from the Campbell area?  Leave early to fish before the OTW service?  Let me know.

The paddle-out isn't expected to be until 11 or so. People who arrive early to fish can join us on the water. The Kitchen is about 1 mile south. If you launch at 6 you should have plenty of time to pick up a limit at the pantry.

Its not ALWAYS about fishing. 

WX looks decent. Not great...but not bad either. I am considering making the drive down the coast.
