I guess I'm glad my van is at the body shop as I wanted to go today :-) Glad his life is not in danger.

I heard about this today at lake Sonoma from Stuart (Potato River).
Didn't gather any details.
I'm glad it wasn't any worse, but it still sucks big time.

Is it time to hunt them again or what?

No, it's not time to hunt them again. There are more people going in the water, and it's the risk we take.

I was in the general area with my buddies last Sunday, 11/19.  Fishing was very good.  We all had full limits.
Normally I turn off my SS just before re-entry.  Next time I won't turn it off until I am back on dry land.

What a concept.  Self tourniquet application.  I think I’m in the market, would prefer to have a buddy apply it though.  Still the whole possibility of having to use it is possessing my imagination, almost like if I buy this does that mean a shark bite in inevitable in my stastical little fishing world.  Best to be prepared to the max and enjoy the sport to the max.

The day before this attack, my brother and I were talking about carrying surgical tubing with us when we dive for this exact scenario.
I think a couple of CAT Gen 7s might be on my Christmas list.

I think it’s the opposite. Once you buy something “just in case” you’ll never need it. At least that’s how I feel about all my “what if” purchases haha.

Carried CATS for years diving. Just check them every so often. It would be even worse to actually need it and have it fall apart once tensioned from salt water corrosion.

It is amazing that so many moments occurred for the best outcome.  I was taken by the father’s emotion having to be the first responder and his waiting during the surgery. Strong healing and recovery to their family and community.

I was going to put a post about this earlier but I forgot, but 1 week before the attack my friends were spearfishing and said about a 15 foot great white was checking them out and came within about 5 yards of them.
