Deep Six Rod

What reel would work well with that Lamiglass CG90DR for salmon trolling?

I use an Abu Garcia Record 6601. I really like this reel. The only thingI'd change would be to give it a little faster retrieve.

Just about any reel with a good smooth drag that'll handle 20-30 pound mono would do the trick.

Thanks, that is a nice looking reel. Spendy though, especially the right handed version. I might have to start fishing lefty.

Yeah, it is a little pricey. I'm a strong believer in the "buy once, cry once" theory. It usually ends up being cheaper in the end...

I would recommend the Shimano Talora trolling rod.  The 7 foot rod with Aftco lightweight roller guides.  Like the Trevala rod, the Talora is constructed using their TC4 technology.  It has a light, soft tip like an ugly stick and very strong backbone when loaded up.  Its a versatile rod, good for sturgeon (tip watching);  trolling for salmon with diver or 2.5# ball;  casting live sardines for albacore and yellowtail on 20-25# line; or halibut trolling or bouncing.  It also has a gimbal under the rubber butt cap.  Back in the day they retailed for $119.
