Coyote lake

Went Sunday to the lake with a bag of floating worms and a Huddleston swim bait. I dragged the swim bait for 8 hour without a bite on it while I was pulling that around I was casting the floating worm with a nail weight and ended up with 10 large mouth bass from 1/2 to 2 pounds. Still a nice day on the water. The lake is still really low and the scuttle butt is they are not going to fill it up this year.

You think you'd get at LEAST 1 bitch on the swim'r in EIGHT HOURS of water?! Did you get the others from the shallows?   

thanks for the port Kevin,  how do those floating worms get rigged?  I have some wht-worms and the segmented nail wghts.....but how do ya put it ALL together?

Those fish came from the bank to about 8ft. How to rig the floater. I use Zoom trick worms and I put a tungsten 3/32 nail weight into the front of the worm and tie up a #4 owner ssw bait hook to your line. Keep in mind the worm has 3 sections the head, eggsack ( the small fat part ) and the tail. Penatrate the worm by the eggsack at the tail end of the worm and bring it out of the eggsack by the front of the worm. Keep the tip of the hook in the worm so it will be weedless. You keep the hook inline with the worm. When the worm sets it the water the head sinks and the tail floats.

Those Coyote Lake swimbait bass sure are elusive! At least you gave it a good try...and 10 smaller bass on the worm isn't a bad consolation prize! I'll take that any day!

Kevin - would the lack of water affect the spawn?

Yep I think so. The lake does not have, and this is a guess that 60% of the spawning area is not in the water now.
Most of the cover is out of the water. So there is no where for the fry to hide as well. I did not notice a lot of fry in the water also. I was paying attention to this cause I am also curious about this affect of no water. I did notice the carp are everywere more so then before it makes since cause of lack water more fish is a smaller area, but those fish suck up bass eggs right quick and last year I noticed less grasses and weeds then before. This lake is changing which is to bad for the bass. 

That's unfortunate  Steven's Creek has had this problem over the years and the bass fishing has not been good as it was
