Great job landing that fish even with the reel popped out. May I ask what kind of rod you have there?
Yesterday I too had a jumping salmon at hmb, but after a failing attempt to net it, it made another run, jumped and shook off. I felt if my rod wasn't so stiff it wouldn't have been able to throw the hook. It was a big fish too. Couldn't stop thinking about it.

That's really unfortunate Ernest and its happen to me many times in the past, the current Rod I started using this season with great success have been the lamiglas X-11.

Right on. Thanks for the info. I was doing some research and came up with the lamiglas x-11 and the g-loomis E6X.

X-11's are a nice graphite blank, but cheap reel seats! Had 2 X-11's pop the reel seats while fighting fish. Both have been since replaced with Okuma SST rods. A lot of shops stopped stocking the X-11's due to poor quality.

Thanks for the info, When I had my Abu on there I never had the problem of the reel unseating, this was the first trip I installed the Avet on the rod and I didn't install the rod clamp to the reel. Next trip I have to make sure that's installed.
