I hit the Cove yesterday around 3PM and 2 powerboats were out around the whistle with whitecaps farther outside and a high-tide ramp with perch fisherfolks and few parking spots.  I saw friends, Byrom and Kita, who were enjoying the sun in the Cove, so we had a couple of beers and BS'd since I couldn't get any positive news of a salmon bite on the radio and it's been very bleak for a couple of weeks.  It was also the case that the 5-8' west swell was sending little 3' breakers into the Cove launch, I had forgotten my seat, and I had been here on 4/6/07 and caught nothing on a day when 1 fish had been caught by all trying.  So I'm batting .300, having caught fish on 3 of 10 trips to the Cove where I've trolled this year.  Before I left to get home early I did hear of one fish that had been caught yesterday with not too many boats trying, so maybe the bite's picking back up...  I should've gone out, but I saved big WAF by getting home early.  The whitecaps had moved in by the time I was driving up the hill - it wasn't the day.  :smt001

Good call, especially w/o a seat. You would have been nursing that sore back for WEEKS had you given it a shot.
Don't worry though, there is a monster salmon lurking out there with your name on it.

Abking,
You can't count it as a negative, if you didn't launch.  It was just a scouting mission.

If you make the drive you should launch seat or none. You got Salmon mojo Abking you don't need no stinking reports.

Ouch!  You're right, Hawk, I always try to get that little bit of time in if I'm there, especially after bagging the huge one in such a quick troll last September...  but it also felt good to kick it in that moment and wait for the next opportunity.  Looking forward to some kick-ass combo trips this Summer.   And you know that if there were another NCKA brother/sister around I would've been wet 10 minutes after arrival and probably would've got home late!   :smt003

I'm just teasin ya bro, I had to cancel a my whale watching tours on saturday because the ocean up here was blown out. It's a little more sheltered down there but it's no fun paddling in whitecaps. Now that the Kayaking season has started my weekends are shot until September. I'm gonna drop you a line Eric whenever I'm out fishing here though. Give me some notice when you're going to the cove, half the time I can re-arrange schedules cause I really want to catch a Salmon there with you or at least man the net while you slay em.

You know Eric,
It doesn't count against your Batting Average if you get Walked. And it sounds like you got Walked....good eye!
(-;
So, technically, you're batting like .333, based on fish-caught trips versus fishless trips. But, you should probably be counting it as fish-caught versus total trips...in which case you Batting Average goes up even more. How many salmon have you caught in those 10 trips? Like 5? Thats a .500 average!
