Swell and wind looked decent so woke up early and was suited up and in the water at sunrise.

Unfortunately, water was really churned up and full of weeds, kelp, crab shells, feathers etc...probably had at best about 4 foot of hazy viz, and a lot of the time much worse...  :smt009

I did see one nice fat 30+ inch striper but by the time I swung my gun around on him he was gone in the murk...if viz had been a foot better I think I would have nailed him.  :smt005

0 for 7 now in 2017.  :smt012 :smt044

On the bright side, I didn't fall over or look like too much of a dummy getting in and out in front of the surf casters, didn't get eaten by a shark, and it is always fun getting in the water in the early morning.  :smt004

Drove home, showered, changed, bought breakfast at NobHill and was at my desk by 845.

Next time!?!!

Stud. I don't know how you can manage a dive before work.

I'm super lucky to live very close to the water, and to have my house so close to work...otherwise wouldn't be possible for sure...

Good try though!

I have seen some reports/pics recently that had me excited (our mutual friend sent me one on Monday that had me frothing  :smt005)...

The one I saw was a chunky booger which is promising...would have been tasty AF!  :smt005 :smt044

I'll be back again next window of weather and free time.

can't stick 'em unless you're in the water, so good effort!
At least you saw one!

You a braveman, surf caster and everything
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

You a braveman, surf caster and everything

So far all my interactions with surf casters have been positive.

Here's a few things I think about and try to do that I think have helped:

1. I try and not jump in near them so they don't feel crowded.
2. I keep an eye on them when I am in the water and if they are north or south try not to swim or drift in front of them.
3. I don't use a floatline on my gun so I have nothing dragging behind me that could catch on lures etc.
4. I smile and try and be nice whenever I encounter any of them on shore.

I am sure some hook and line guys despise me being there, but hopefully some/most recognize that I am just out there trying to get my fish on like they are.

There were a few decent stripers caught from Sand Dollar beach while camping in Big Sur last wknd. And the water was crystal clear...I'd imagine 30-40ft vis.  Just saying...

Yep...and I know cochino and others have seen them at the next beach south as well...

I was surprised at how crap the viz was yesterday...fingers crossed it is better next time...
