Gate fee has been raised form $10 to $10.25.

On the bright side the showers are working again, and so is the hot water.

 :smt004

As always, if you plan on going there please be considerate and follow the posted parking rules, and be a good ambassador for the kayaking/angling/diving community.  :smt001

Sincerely,

Jim

How about time that they are open?  Last year they pulled some BS and wouldn't let me in until 6:00AM IIRC.

I had one guy at the gate try that on me a few years ago...I made him call his supervisor and then he let me in.

As far as I know 17 mile drive is open 24/7. The actual beach access is posted sunrise to sunset, but nobody is ever down there at that time (except for the girl at the club desk who can open the bathrooms for you if locked).

If anyone gives you grief at gate I would say you are just driving on 17 mile drive to get pictures of sunrise etc...but I haven't had any issues recently...

Sincerely,

Jim

ps..the same guy who didn't want to let me in cuz it was too early also tried to stop me one time cuz he said it was too rough to get in the ocean...again told him to call his supervisor...he just let me in that time instead of calling. Think he was just a weirdo... :smt005

Food and wine, car show, and pro-am are the big ones you want to avoid...

Ryan,

While traffic on highways may be worse than usual, should have no prob launching from carmel main beach (north end at ocean ave or south end at copper roof where headlands start) or carmel river state beach...or anywhere down in Sur...

Weather looks good Saturday...If I didn't have to work I would be out diving...

I think Gio (wildernessmedic/randy rhoads) is looking for a partner so you may want to PM him...

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Earlier this year I saw some dude that I believe maybe on this site take all his gear (I mean ALL) in with him and rinse it off in the shower.

When I went in after he was done saw about a pound of sand next to the drain. Not cool at all  :smt011

Would have said something to him but he was gone when I got out.

Reminds me of the time someone filleted their catch in the bathroom  :smt009

The hot showers are awesome. Hope it stays that way.
