I called Kamps, Mountain Propane, Ferrellgas, and Pacific Propane today. The one that would work best is Pacific Propane. The others, except Ferrellgas, wouldn't move the tank until it's empty, and Ferrellgas couldn't do the changeover for 4 to 6 weeks. The only problem is that Pacific has a bunch of really terrible reviews on Yelp:

Has anybody had good experience with this company?

We originally had no problem with Suburban. They hooked everything up, and gave us a great initial price. Then, a couple years ago, I had to get another regulator installed when we added a propane heater for our lower level. They quoted me one price and then tried to charge me more than 3x as much. I complained and they eventually lowered it to 2x as much. I chalked that up to miscommunication. But, now I'm thinking that's just their MO. Almost all of the reviews I could find have similar stories.

I'm planning to go with Ferrellgas. They have the best price (currently $1.79 for SPUG members) and the person I talked to when I called was easily the best of the ones I spoke to. They don't have universally great reviews, but still way better than Suburban or Pacific.

Yea I have been living in cazadero for a few years now and was originally with northern? Until it was bought out by Amerigas who promptly tried to charge me somewhere in the neighborhood of 4+ bucks a gallon!  Bull.....

Called every provider in the Russian river are and ferrelgas was best by far.  There's a few things to weigh, tanks rental, first filll discount, auto fill or not, etc.

What's this SPUG discount?  Took a look on their website and there area is clear and I don't live in it but if be happy to pay their annual dues of 20$ for a discount on my propane.

1.79/gallon with that discount is a pretty killer price for winter

I'll have to call and see what it is sans discount ahora

The SPUG deal looks great.  The rate the get is $1.79 at Ferrellgas and $1.99 at Kamps. Lots of people around here have Kamps.

Just doing a first fill and tank for a  foreclosed house we have for sale  1.79 gal initial fill at  Amerigas with no credit check prepay. I think all first fills/tank sets are about the same. Then they get you on refills.

The SPUG prices I mentioned above are not initial fill prices. Those are the refill prices. So it looks pretty good, but probably can't make the switch until the tank is about empty.

Prices in El Dorado county right now is under $2 a gallon.  I paid $1.85 in August and just checking this morning, the same company, Suburban, would sell to me for $1.56

That's HUGE difference than what you are being quoted.

BTW, I lease their tank at $90 a year, no other fees.  I usually fill the tank once a year.

Holy cow! I don't know what's up with Suburban, but they are absolutely nuts around here---way, way out of line compared to everybody else.

Here in El Dorado county, we have a propane watch Facebook group.  Not sure you can 'see' it unless you are a member, but here's the link;
