Crabbing at Bean Hollow?

Dang........I guess his buddy got the business unless the one on shore is hurt, that is some blood.  Not goin' crabbin' in the cape anytime soon, unless I bring my.........wait for it..................du du naaaa.............SHARKSHIELD!  Hope I never have to find out if it works...

Pretty good chance that you will never find out if it works.  You might only find out if it doesn't work.

Funny, that sounds about right.  Kayak fishing has not yet made it to the life insurance quote section for qualifying.

Thanks for all the feedback - very helpful (and thought provoking). Re our GWS friends, definitely a deterrent. Both attacks seem to have been in the summer (July and August) at Bean Hollow. Maybe that's simply because that is the only time when the majority of the Kayakers are in the area. Or maybe they all loiter around Ano Nuevo during mating season (now) but become more mobile thereafter. Not so sure I want to be a case study. Will look into the Shark Guard - does that scare away fish as well?

Getting past the waves has been a big issue and hard to tell from the surf forecast. I once showed up with what looked like 10' white water - no thank you!

In Marin, how about Tennessee Valley, Muir, or Rodeo Beach?

No joke.  He was bleeding out before our eyes.  No way he survived.

The shark was still thrashing to the right so I wonder if he survived while his partner took the hit.

Muir has potential............

Plus, while the beach in the cove is sandy, and there's a shallow sandy area to the north, I think most of the bottom structure there is very rocky.....Not really good for crabbing.

Like Eddie said, Muir can be good. Just gotta hit it in the right swell window. It's a southwest facing beach, but pretty much all sand.

Tennessee in my opinion would be a no go due to the vast distance between the parking lot and the beach. Even with wheels it's a long haul, well over a mile.
