Hello Nor Cal Anglers

This is my introduction with a question.

Whats the best set up for a Hobie Perception 13 as far as a rail and rod holder forward of the seat ? Appreciate your recommendations

I plan to  purchase either this or an Outback in the next couple of days but leaning toward the Perception for open water and dealing with currents near home port on the Carquinez Straight

Glad to be aboard

Tim

Welcome, Tim!  I recommend that you purchase a pedal yak version, it will be so much easier to move around (at least for me anyway).  I love my Santa Cruz Raptor G2 kayak (and being a whore about it), so I recommend the Raptor.  You can purchase one without pedal capability and add it in the future.

Welcome to the madness.

Get the pedal kayak. There are lots of posts on rigging.

I would recommend Yakattack rails on the gunwhales and maybe a Scotty side/deck base inside the side pocket. That would give you a lot of options.

I've got a bunch of Scotty flush mounts on my kayaks and they're good, but you might want to consider railblaza. They have some really nice options, such as this one, which is great inside the Hobie mesh pocket or (with a bit more work) inside one of those useless cup holders...

Welcome to NCKA!  The Revo13 and Outback have their Pros and Cons and there are a couple of old threads that talk about them - use the search function to find them.

Tell us a little about yourself, what type of fishing you like to do, and the area you plan to fish.  I have a lot of friends that use Revo 13s and I fished from an Outback for 4 years.  Also, remember to try before you buy!
