Im making a crab pot for Crab Fest and was wondering if anyone knows if sport fisherman have to use a destructive escape hatch on their traps? I read online that commercial guys have to use them but im not sure about recreational. Also are there any other regs I should know about traps? I know the marker has to have the GO ID number now

Also where do people store the crabs on their kayak after they catch them?

This has some great info: https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=132266&inline

As far as storing crab, I recommend a mesh bag or bucket. You can put it behind your seat. I have purchased a laundry bag from the dollar store in the past that worked fine too.

Thanks for sharing that great video, Moon.  What day did that happen?  Yesterday was Friday, not Sunday.... I was out Friday and soaked 3 pots for 3 hours for 3 keepers.  Maybe I"m not using the right bait?
