Took 4 mins to install if that.

Materials needed:

3' of Rotten Cotton
2-12" Bungee cords

Tools required:

Pliers
Knife

Installation:

1. Tie a loop on one end of the rotten cotton and half hitch it snug against one side of the bars running along the center of the trap. Half hitch it several times down the bar and then tie another loop at the opposite end.
Make sure the second loop is an inch or so longer so that it has enough length to go around the other parallel center bar.

2. Crimp one bungee on one corner and the other bungee kitty-corner from the first one.

3. Close the trap and secure with loose ends of bungee.

4. Remove existing 3 center clips that come with the trap.

This actually works better and is more secure than the three clips and it cost about 5 bucks per trap to fix.

I'd probably wrap that near loop around both metal bars.

Yeah you can do that as well as putting another loop in the center of the rotten cotton for a third point of attachment.

I'm just glad I've found a solid solution that has little to no negative effect on the integrity of the trap.

I had some other ideas but that would have called for installing a separate 5" diameter escape hatch secured with rotten cotton.

This is a much easier, secure and cheaper solution.

But time will tell  :smt001

He really is smarter than he looks! I seen this thread pop up, and I thought "I gotta see this abortion!" But no babies died... :smt044
(Laugh emoji is for AlexB, he thinks I am morbid and would possibly take that as I actually was hoping for an abortion video, instead of a cool way to catch crabs that's legal)  :smt006
