I'm using an Elite 5 Ti and have had good experience with it so far.  I think I have an extra Elite 5 HDI FF that may work with your existing transducers.  I think the only real differences between the Tis and HDI/DSIs are the touchscreen.

Elite 5 Ti is more of my price range.  I am not sure about $1,000 fish finder.  Will stop by West Marine to check on connections to make sure they will work with my transducers and power cords prior to making a purchase.  Also, sent an email to Lowrance Customer Service asking these questions.

Thank you for your help.

Just ordered Lowrance Elite-5 Ti Touchscreen Fishfinder and Chartplotter Combo with DownScan Transducer for $280 from GPSCity.com

Hope this will resolve my issues.  Got tired from spending too much time on my troublesome fish finder.

I’ve noticed a lot of issues with the newer Lowrance units. But my original Elite 5 still works flawlessly after 8yrs. 83/200kHz dual scan is all you need really. Everything after that is just extra flair.

Thank you for your advice.   I don't want to get a unit that is too complicated or with too many options for my purpose.

Received my order of Elite-5 Ti and tried to set up.
The older power cord fits fine but it has 9-pin (black) transducer cable and my old 7-pin (blue) transducer cable would not fit.
Did search on the manual and found an adapter cable.  Ordered 00-13313-001Lowrance Black 000-13313-001 7 Blue to 9 Pin Adapter cable.
Hope this would allow me to use my old transducers.

I’m picking up an Elite 7 today at Fisherman’s warehouse.   It appears that it is compatible with my existing hook (not hook 2) transducers.  I called and verified this with Lowrance. Fisherman’s warehouse also has the adapter I’ll need to connect the ‘blue’ transducer connection to the Elite.  I hope it all works.

If you use it in ocean, unless the touch screen is improved somehow. I have seen older version of touch screen is not so friendly to wet finger.

I am just waiting for my elite 5-HdI to die so I could upgrade  :smt005

I will find out next weekend how responsive the touch screen is.  Will carry a microfiber towel to dry my fingers.

Thank you for all your research!

I've been thinking about upgrading to the Ti myself. Good to know about the 7/9 pin issue.

So about your Hook5 issue, did you update your software?
I had similar problem w/ my 5HDI first I got it, but after the software update it worked fine (until I got the water damage from the sd card door...).

Let us know how do you like your new Ti.

As soon as I had the issue, I updated the software but the issue continued.
Will update my progress and performance of Ti.

sorry I didn't see this sooner or else I would have told you about the 7 to 9 pin. If you are not using the total scan transducer you will need the 7 to 9 pin.

As for the touch screen...its a big pain in the butt when wet. To help solve that issue I just lock the screen and don't change anything on the water lol
