My fiancé and I will be in Carmel for the weekend and I'd like to get some rock crab for her (she likes cioppino made with red rock crabs).  Anyone know a good area to try?

I have kayaks and crab pots or willing to fish off piers as well.  Likely with try fishing while pots/traps soak.

Anyone want to meet up?  Always happy to meet new faces.  Will share some cioppino if we catch any.

Thanks!

Kevin

I don't know much about it, but I'm sure it's possible. They're always around. Unfortunately most of the rocky nearshore areas don't allow crabbing...only hook & line finfish in the SMCA's etc. Map here: https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=105423&inline

Not if you're going for rock crab south of Sand Hill Bluff.

Thanks for the links.  Read each area.  It seems like a grey area on crustaceans.  Are consider a live/living marine resource?  Other area only talk about hook and line on finfish.  Might have to talk to a game warden.
