Theft of Radio by homeless guy at MBK coming in. Helped us but stole as payment.

So as we pulled our kayaks up from the beach. Emma got real tired and a homeless guy came to "HELP" us... While helping he slipped one of our radios into a pocket and walked off.... Guard yourselves against the tweekers.... Thieves one and all. Radio is inscribed, blue and white. Weimarian on it...

Sorry to hear that. that is just wrong. I would never let anyone I don't know help me unless it's they are from the hook up.

I agree, you should have radio mic checked right next to him, and see what he does. Just make sure he doesn't have any sharp objects in his hand to stab you with when he gets busted.

I would have mic checked if by myself or friends but not with my wife or daughter. 

I just advised one of the officers I know over there to keep an eye out for the radio and do special checks in area for kayakers and fisherman being harassed. 

Hope you made a basic report with the special info etched on it.  Sometimes they come across stuff they can give back but have no idea to who. 

similar happened to a  friend up in So.Lake Tahoe....radio was stolen ..day later got a call from the a guy said he found it..would be waiting at the Raleys at the Y...wanted a reward for finding it...we showed up and remembered the guy from walking around at Richardsons resort  and had been chased away by their campground "security''  Pat gave him a choice...take 5 bucks and be happy,take an ass kicking and be happy or call the a LEO for citizens arrest, get hassled and give up the radio for free anyway and get nothing.. he took the $5 ...win -win

Are you absolutely sure that's what happened? Because it seems pretty brazen. And you aren't the type to keep quiet if something like that happened knowingly. Maybe she just lost it?
Bill has a good point though--if the vhf has internal battery & requires a charger...maybe call WM in Monterey and explain the situation. What brand & model?

Atlantis and AA battery pack.... Not even thinking I'll get it back. Just warning ALL that go there to watch their backs and those tweekers. Brazen, Straight up didn't notice it gone till we were at camp.... It was laying in the boat. Tied with a clip to the life jacket. Didn't fall off. Was removed...
