I have denatl procedure at noon.  Can't eat or even have coffee till noon because it's sedation dentistry.

So, to kill time, I decided to rebuild my Slammer 460 Penn Spinning Reel.  It was getting kinda 'loose' after a lot of surfcasting.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I had to take a 10 mg Valium 1st thing this a.m.

I do NOT recommend rebuilding reels while on Valium.  I don't do any recreational drugs nor alcohol.  So, maybe I'm a bit sensitive.

Lost a casing screw.  30 minutes on the floor in the dust.  Nope.

Found a replacement from a parts Penn 500.  Good.

Retaining clip on the spool took off for lunar orbit when I pried the corner up.  Luckily it pinged off my gooseneck lamp, and I heard where it hit the bench.  30 minutes carefully cleaning my workbench.  Finally found it clinging to a vertical surface.  Thank you Mr. Drag Grease.

2 hours for a 20 minute job.  But once you break the reel down you have to get it back together, right?  It was like working in Molasses......

But, it DID kill some time.  All together now and ready for more Manresa Stripers.

You did much better than me even with the valium.  My last dismantal/cleaning of a reel ended up at the landfill.

Best of luck on the dental..easy peasy

You have NO IDEA, how many detent pins and springs from AR's are forever imbedded in my carpet! You also must wear shoes around my fly bench!! Size 22 up to 5/0 could be ANYWHERE in that carpet.....

.....tomorrow when the Valium has worn off and Bushy tries to start his truck he's gonna realize that penn spin fisher he took apart was actually his carburetor.  :)

This made me LOL!
And I gotta say I love my Penn Slammer 460...bought it from Mooch in 2008 or 9. Still works great. Can't say the same for some of my "fancier" spinning reels.

There is a definite advantage to having concrete floors....although.......yesterday while using Goof Off during my dipping process I lost the cap to the one gallon can. How the hell does that happen??????
I've looked all over my shop even though I didn't leave a 5' radius.
And that was without Valium.
