For reals?
The upper Carmel River aka Los Padres Dam is only open during trout season (last Sat in April thru Oct 31)...must use barbless artificial lures and can keep 2 rainbows between 10-16 inches.
Right now is steelhead season, so the lower river (below Esquiline Rd in CV village) is open to C&R fishing with barbless artificial lures from Dec 1 through March 7 on Wed/Sat/Sundays IF the flow is above 80cfs at this gauge. You have to call 831-649-2886 to listen to the recording to find out if it's open to fishing.
Or you can check the DFG regs.

And you can only fish with one eye open at a time standing on your left foot ONLY!

Lol, you making it too easy for them bro!  Some people are too damn lazy these days and just want everything handed to them on a platter.  This post, where it was posted, how it was worded = lazy ass.   What a great introduction too.   :smt012

The freshwater regs are in a booklet here:

https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=93497&inline

Check the district regs, then check the listings in the bodies of water with special regs.

The saltwater regs can also be found at the DFW website here:  https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/regulations

We often discuss regulations here, so if you have questions after finding the regs for that body of water in the link above don't be afraid to ask.  Some of us are friendlier than others.  Welcome to the site.

Welcome to the club :smt006.  Smokey actually is a great guy and I can attest to that. I can see where he's coming from when he posted what he posted.

No tho.

Dude makes his first post saying he wants to fish a particular water and is asking where to find regs. Maybe he's new to the area or new to fishing. So he asks. It should be encouraged. Instead he gets a ration of shit and gets called lazy. Dafuq?  Get off his nuts.

Its all good Herb, no need to defend me.  I know when I'm being a dick, not gonna deny it.  I saw a member that signed up last year and for his first intro post, he gets straight to the point and asks just what he needed to know, so yeah I was a bit rude about it.  For me, if you're not 5 yrs old and you got a hand to type with, the least one can do is take the time to research on their own before throwing out questions that have readily available answers on the web.  There is no shame in asking for help after that IMO.  And Crash, please dont act like you're all nice and dandy, I've seen some of your not so nice posts.  Im sure you felt that attitude was warranted at the time too.

Bottom line, I may have been out of line with the assumptions so I will apologize to the OP for side tracking his thread.
