If you pause it, you can see it says MBK on the kayak...so they might not have been the most knowledgeable kayakers, but they didn't appear to do anything wrong...just bad timing.

yeah, after I posted I ended up getting another article sent to me and it mentioned the group was from MBK (who has now stopped all whale watch kayak trips). Looks like wrong place at the wrong time.
 I'm glad no one was hurt.

The size and confidence of humpbacks really sets them apart from Grays, especially when they are feeding like that.
I had some really awesome humpback whale viewing in Sur this year, and even with an over 100 yard distance we did have some that came right to us as we tried to get out of their way.

No concern at all for the two kayakers in the water.  Cheerfully mentioning "he knocked it over, he knocked it over," referring to the kayak.  Real humanitarian.
