I'd like to get out this weekend, either day, for my first kayak fishing trip. I'll also bring my spearfishing gear.

Anybody going that would allow me to tag along. I'll have my safety gear, I'm fit, and a strong paddler. That said, probably best to stay close on the first trip.

Any recommendations on where to launch, spearfish? I've heard Lovers Point is good.

Thanks,

bmb

I heard there might be some sort of kayak event going on this Saturday near Monterey Bay Kayaks.  Best to stay clear of that group, they're pretty rowdy.

The Pay It Forward Paddle is Saturday at MBK. Launch there, introduce yourself to the others that are on the beach setting up to go, and someone will let you tag along, I am certain of it.

Never safer than with a bunch of kayakers out on the water fishing together  :smt002  Come down and join in the PIF fun!  You will also meet a bunch of cool guys, see a bunch of cool kayak setups, and be able to ask just about any question you might have.

Just shout out for FishMaster1, he will give you the scoop on where to pickup some nice fish  :smt003

Thanks for the information. I'll see you there! I'll be the guy yelling fishmaster1;)

I have an orange advanced elements inflatable, which I will be retrofitting as a first boat so it will be good to see some other setups.

Thanks again,

Spearfishing out of an inflatable   ????????   Besides the obvious, inflatables are a lot of work when the wind comes up. The spots many of us will be heading towards during PIF might be a bit far out for an inflatable.
MBK does rent kayaks for a very reasonable cost
