I've never launched at Moss Landing, but am thinking it might be fun. I have driven around there but found it confusing in terms of where exactly to park & launch for fishing in the ocean.

Anyone have any good info on this?
Thanks.
Bill

Great public launch ramp there right on Hwy one north of the Elkhorn slough bridge. $10 fee?

It's $11 to park and launch (can't remember whether it's $6 and $5 or $5 and $6), cash or check only. There is a self-pay booth by the bathrooms, and you can launch at the boat ramps. If you get there early, the self-pay thing might be disabled---I heard that it gets robbed regularly.

Be careful of the tides, since during a big tide swing, the water can rush in (or out) at a rate that might make it challenging to get out (or back in), and also making it rough at the jaws. The wind likes to blow there too.

Nowhere man is correct on that . tides do play a big part at the mouth (jaws) at moss landing. Following an incoming tide makes for a more enjoyable day. Just watch your drift so that your not to far out that you have a hard time returning if the tide is against you and you should be ok.

The last couple times I've been there, I just parked on Jetty Rd (north jetty) and wheeled my yak down to the water, for free.

Woodwards in moss is usually less crowded than main launch, nice guy runnin the little shop there too
Give a man a fish and he'll eat a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit on the water all day with a stick in his hand and no fish.
