Those are what I have, and they work and suck at the same time! Get the kayak set in them, and then bump it, and the kayak cams forward or backwards, as they roll on the bar like Craig said. Dents the hell out of the top of your rig, feel free to look at the roof of my Toyota anytime!  :smt013

Better deal http://sacramento.craigslist.org/spo/5071685731.html  :smt003

Actually, the deal I got includes:

Two sets of hullraisers
Full set of four lowriders
two 58" crossbars
straps, bow lines

for $120.

I think the reason nobody else bid on it was because the first picture only shows one set of hullraisers and some straps.

Huh, didn't think about the rolling.  This may mean I'm switching to Thule. But geez, can't beat that price!

Sucks for the seller!

I know, right? :) eBay fees, PayPal fees, actual shipping cost for a 60x12x12" 35lb box...

When you guys say they roll, do you mean when you leave them attached to the crossbars without a kayak? Because I always remove my j-racks if I'm not hauling a kayak. To remove them it takes about 3 minutes, improves gas mileage, doesn't make annoying noises from wind resistance. And if they're rolling and damaging the roof...why leave em on there?!

Pat they roll with the kayak on it before you strap it down.if the kayak gets bumped it will slide one way or the other and with the weight of the yak on it, it dents the piss out of the roof. I take my rack off when not transporting multiple yaks.

Not sure if there is a way to drill through both and put a cotter pin to hold it?

Looks like Yakima already has a solution with the Aero conversion kit.  Look at the teeth in the center.

never had a problem with the j racks myself on yakima bars. lots of people say they roll but mine sort of just turned a little to conform to the shape of the kayak.

i stopped using my j racks because they don't fit my slayer propels, so I went with one hullavator instead.  I can load a 34" and 33" kayak on my hullavator even though I only have 66" bars.  of course, $$$!
