I read that it might have been planted last week and I was not surfing today so I took the yak and the trout trolling gear to SCR around 11 a.m.

light rain, but not too much wind, so I launched.   trolled a gold seps sidekick and part of a GULP worm (yes, mooch, it's true, I got them free in an order from fisherman's factor outlet last year) since I did not have any nitecrawlers.  a 4" "turtleback" pumpkinseed work.
put it way back there, over 100 feet on 4lb mono.

water is way low, first time I had my sonar at SCR.

a ton of marks, some of them looked like stacks of bait bottom to top, but I assume most of that was not fish?

maybe they were, I landed one 9" black crappie. no trout caught, none seen either.

wind came up crazy a couple hours later, super gusts like 20 knots or more, so I packed it in after also trying a craw-colored 3cm fat rap for nada.

Well, it was fun to battle the elements and get a little trout trolling practice in. and I don't think I have caught a crappie before so that was a first.

J - according to Justin at FW, they'll be planting trout in there pretty soon....but not just yet.

I tried to avoid asking this Q...and hoped someone else would prevent me from sounding like a newbie...BUT...what is SCR? There, I said it. Sorry for not knowing. And I guess I coulda just sent you a PM but maybe others are wondering the same thing.
Enlightment please...

Thanks jmairey!

And thanks for the report too, very detailed,

:smt003  I had the same question and didn't ask for the same reason. Sometimes the acronyms are hard for us new guys to figure out.

Good report.

yes, I'm adopting the new secret squirrel method of reporting!  :smt005

you have to read down in the thread to figure out what the heck is going on...

Mooch, thank you for the intel,  :smt002. I am using the dfg planting schedule page
but I guess it wasn't quite right.

Yeah. Thanks for reporting in John. I've been busy with work and family and holidays so been uncharacteristically quiet but free soon.
