Can't wait for the entire population of Prunedale to rise up for the salmon carnage zombie apocalypse of 2019 :smt005
It usually begins with "hey y'all, watch this" :smt044

Except for the sentence before that: "Hold my beer,"
But of course.....

The 'new' administration at Santa Cruz harbor has forgotten why the Harbor was built.  For fishermen!!  They made it impossible for us to stay there with the net pens.

The Moss Landing harbor welcomes us with open arms.  Still an angler's harbor, not a golf and yacht club crew.  (No offense to any of you who play golf, I do not, being incapable of multiple obsessions).

Santa Cruz has gotten really strict and really unfriendly.  Some staff are still regular people and we love them, but.....General top down attitude is "My way or the Highway."

Route 1 runs right down to Moss.........

And yes in a few years, imagine the fun we'll have casting from the jetties and such!!

Bushy

(I am also on Board of Directors for MBSTP, though I'm not sure why.  Probably my good looks)

Isn't santa cruz funny that way?  So tolerate in some ways, by some people, and REALLY intolerant in a lot of ways.  major hypocrisy

In the last 10 years we've really seen the SC harbor change from a low-key, serve-the-public type of place, to a "pay up or get out" type of place.
It wasn't just docks that were damaged by the Tsunami, it turned out to be a lot more that got washed away.....

sorry to hear about the MBST project having to move, but I am glad they found a good home.

Thanks for getting us "the rest of the story" Allen! :smt006

A year ago we asked the lady at the Santa Cruz kiosk if it was OK to bbq in the parking lot, after a day of fishing, and she said it was ok.  The harbor staff was welcoming and harbor patrol even came by to say hi and to make sure we were having fun.  I felt special that day and I'm going to miss that place...

That's pretty poetic Sean!  I may have to steal the line...

Things in that harbor changed long before the Tsunami.  I agree that it has turned into a parking lot of mostly blow boats & isn't very fisherman friendly any longer.

:smt001 That's what makes it interesting :smt002 There's a trick, you have to hook the sea lion first then the Salmon🎣😎
