First question: is it legal to launch your kayak in the San Lorenzo River estuary?
Second question: have you ever done it or seen anyone do it?

I'm thinking this might be a good way to access un-wadable water in the lower portion of the river. Of course, I wouldn't do it during high flows because that might be dangerous. But at the right time, I bet it would be awesome. If anything, it would provide a good way to scope out some holes/spots.

I will be there Saturday sans kayak but plan to check the feasability of launching and kayaking there for future reference.

Thanks,
PK

Pat,

I know that ocean beaches in SC are "officially swimming beaches" and boat launching is not allowed on most but I have no idea about the estuary itself.  It seems like the whole lower stretch would be an easy paddle and probably easy to launch over one of the levies.  I can not recall anyone boating there but who knows if it is allowed.  What are you fishing for? C&R Steelhead?

Steelhead indeed!
The best fish ever invented! None today though...hopefully next time. (didn't bring the yak)
